The ultimate green smoothie to kick start your day!
This smoothie was inspired by Kim Snyders Glowing Green Smoothie. I love the glowing green smoothie, however I find it is not to many peoples tastes and I believe smoothies and juices should be enjoyed rather than endured. I have made a few alterations which have kept the essence of the juice but increased the taste factor whilst reducing the sugar content.
Greens are the super food, full of valuable nutrients. To get the most out of your greens, the cell walls need to be broken down, which is why blending this smoothie is a perfect option to save you wasting time chewing on bags of spinach to reap the same benefits. High in fiber, essential for aiding digestive cleansing for the removal of toxins from the body and to help you feel fuller than simply with a juice. A great way to start your day!
I use a vitamix for all my smoothies but several friends have nutribullets or similar equivalents and they say they work just as well, so give this smoothie ago with whatever blender you have.

Serves 1
Cooking time 3 minutes (Preparation time 2 minutes)
Ingredients
- 1 cup lettuce
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 stalk celery
- 1/2 apple
- 1/2 pear
- 1/2 banana (I use frozen)
- 1/2 juice of a lemon
- 1 cup coconut water or water
- 1/2 cup ice
Method
- De-core the apple and pear, de-skin the banana and juice half a lemon. Place half of each fruit if using fresh into a airtight container for tomorrow morning.
- Place all the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth.
